Showcasing the Beauty of Limestone

Limestone shapes every room of this recent Ancient Surfaces project. In the bath, limestone carved into a deep basin sits beneath a wall mounted faucet, its earthy tones lit by a tall window. In the living room, a fireplace crafted from carefully sourced limestone, with scrolled jambs and a raised hearth, anchors a coastal palette of blue and neutral tones while glass doors fold open to the ocean. The kitchen centers on a carved stone hood, its relief of urns and scrolling foliage rising behind the range in contrast to the modern appliances. At the entrance, a curved staircase climbs on limestone steps beside a wrought iron railing, and stone floors in subtle tones run through the hallway past antique lanterns and wooden consoles to the front doors. Together they show limestone treated not as a finish but as a work of art.
